What is the CCPOA?
The Clackamas County Peace Officers’ Association is a 501(c)(5) non-profit labor organization representing the workers of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Molalla Police Department, West Linn Police Department, Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office Investigators and the Clackamas County Medical Examiners Office. The CCPOA works with county and local government leaders to ensure the best working conditions possible for its members. The CCPOA is also very active in the community, sponsoring numerous organizations, such as youth sports programs, alcohol free graduation parties, charitable organizations and many others.
The Officers and Shop Stewards compose the Executive Board. These volunteers are elected by their peers and donate a considerable amount of their own time for the benefit of their co-workers.
Through the CCPOA’s state registered political action committee, P.O.L.I.C.E. (Police Officers Lobbying in Common Effort), the CCPOA is able to evaluate various political candidates or measures and support those that best serve the welfare of the law enforcement community in Clackamas County.
The Clackamas County Peace Officers’ Benevolent Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization developed to provide emergency assistance to those in the CCPOA and selected causes in the community.
The CCPOA provides a Scholarship Program for its members and hosts an annual Family Picnic. The CCPOA is a co-sponsor of the Cruzin’ with the Cops fundraiser, with proceeds donated to Tribute to Honor.
The CCPOA has grown from it’s inception in 1974 with only 60 members to almost 400 members in 2007. The CCPOA also looks after the benefits of over 50 retired members though it’s Retiree Medical Trust.
